Vinyl Decal/Sticker Application
These decals or stickers are made from a commercial / marine grade of vinyl.
Oracal 651 is our choice of vinyl just like many other sign shops.
Applied correctly it will last between 5 to 7 years outdoors, indoors is indefinate.
Because it's your money and your look, let's get it right the first time.
1) Clean the surface to which your vinyl will be applied.
A) Thoroughly clean the surface with water and any dish soap. This is for easy debris, for
other contaminates, like tar, paint, grease, etc. use appropriate cleaner.
B) Thoroughly clean the surface with distilled water and kitchen paper towel. Do not use cloth
towels or commercial paper towels. Some have chemicals in them.
2) Apply your decal/sticker.
A) Lightly spray the surface to which your decal/sticker will be applied, with a spray bottle of
distilled water.
B) Remove the backing carefully from the decal/sticker.
C) Lightly place your decal/sticker on the surface with precision.
3) Squeegee to remove air and water bubbles, and to bond to surface.
A) Drag your squeegee (at a 45` angle) using a good deal of pressure and working from the
center out toward the edges in all directions. Use of a credit card or drivers license works well.
B) Waite 5 minutes for bonding to cure.
4) Taking off cover tape.
A) Saturate cover tape with spray bottle of distilled water.
B) Waite 5 minutes for water to ease cover tape from the decal/sticker.
C) Slowly remove cover tape from the surface and the decal/sticker. Pull at 180` angle (which
is pulling it back over itself against the surface and the decal/sticker).
Problems and Solutions BE PATIENT
**The vinyl is stuck to the backing. The cover mask is on top of the vinyl. You can see
through the cover mask.
**If when peeling the backing from the vinyl the vinyl starts to come off also, take a sharp tool
(like a small knife) and pry the vinyl from the backing, making it stick to the cover mask and
continue to pull apart.
**Once the vinyl is laid on the surface, it may or may not move. If it does, there is a lot of
water under the vinyl. Good for minor realignments, bad for adhering to the surface, allow
extra drying time. If it doesn’t move, let it be or the vinyl will stretch.
**Work any air or water bubbles out with a wet finger. Take a needle to any stubborn bubble.
**Lift the vinyl away from the surface and reapply to remove wrinkles. Cut and overlap the
vinyl if you cannot lift it from the surface. Do not cut the surface.
Note: Decals arriving in cylinders may need to be laid flat for a few hours before applying.
Thank You for your purchase and good luck!!!
All smaller decals will be mailed tapped to a cardboard backer for shipping protection.
